It’s harvest time! Or is it?
A round of snow and freezing weather has been raking across the Northern Plains and upper Midwest, disrupting fieldwork in the northern U.S. and Canada for the past several days.
This is happening alongside a slower-than-normal pace of harvest, with corn progress at just 15% and soybean progress at 14% as of October 6. Even this year’s spring wheat harvest, which is typically concluded by early October, still has 10% to go.
But farmers nonetheless have had a (mostly) positive attitude from the latest curveball that Mother Nature has thrown in an already chaotic season. Many took to Twitter to share photos and observations about their latest weather woes. Here is a sampling of what they’ve seen.
